Annabel Symington has lived, worked and travelled across the globe.

She recently returned from West Africa where she was investigating a number of development issues such as press freedom in The Gambia, to teenage pregnancy in Sierra Leone and self-sustainable farming practices across the region.

She had written extensively on a myriad of topic from global water politics to press freedom. In May 2009 she was awarded the UNESCO John Ivinson Memorial Prize for Freedom of Expression for an article she wrote about press freedom during the Gaza war.

She holds an MA (Distinction) in International Journalism from City University, London and a BA in English Literature and  Theatre Studies from the University of Leeds.

She speaks fluent French, conversational Spanish and basic Arabic.
